Mirjam Nijdam (1980) is a psychologist and researcher affiliated with the Centre for Anxiety Disorders at the Academic Medical Centre at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
After her studies in Clinical Psychology (MSc), she specialized in the diagnostic assessment and treatment of trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder. Her PhD project is a randomized controlled trial that compares the efficacy of two psychotherapeutic methods for posttraumatic stress disorder, Brief Eclectic Psychotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy. She has been working on several research projects in the past, including the project “Psychosocial effects of terrorist threat and close protection” commissioned by the Dutch National Coordinator of Counterterrorism (NCTb). In addition to her research and clinical work, she likes to teach and has been a trainer and supervisor in Brief Eclectic Psychotherapy since 2008.
