Feeling lonely

Because you fear lack of understanding or out of shame, you may not want to discuss your feelings with others. Maybe you take precautions to avoid talking about the horrific details of the trauma so that you won’t scare other people. In addition, the daily topics of other people may seem irrelevant to you. The memories of the trauma are central to your experience. For others, the world keeps turning; for you it stopped. You may shut yourself off from others, and start to feel lonely
